This was a present to Katy from her Dad at Christmas, and we drank it with Pete before farewell dinner at Forenza, the only decent restaurant in Maidenhead. I thought that this was simply new packaging for Louis Roederer NV, but it came across as more elegant (Chardonnay greater in the blend) than previous NVs I’ve had. The code suggested March 2008 bottling, so perhaps it was just a bottle-age thing, post-disgorgement. Either way, lovely! Pale lemon-green, with a fine, persistent bead. Quite pronounced fresh dough autolytic aromatics, supported by light citrus. A delicate mousse, with lovely, sweet lemon flavours, with a distinct creaminess. Long. Will have to check if this is indeed the ‘regular’ NV…
