After and interesting comparison of the Baden co-op’s Pinots Blanc, Gris and Noir (oak vs. steel), the organisers brought out some quality extras. Franz Keller is apparently a leading Baden Pinot producer, 2007 a good year, and his Selection range is one of his better wines. It showed: mature, but fine; some slight richness to it too – the German angle? Pale garnet, with a broad rim. Complex nose: toast, spice, some stewed meat, undergrowth and oak spice touches. Ripe palate, with refreshing, but not marked acidity. Dried cranberries, toast and beef hints.
