Dropped into Planet of the Grapes, shortly after getting back from Australia. With dinner, it felt appropriate to tuck into something Aussie, so picked this – with Jane Ferrari’s signature on it, by chance. A very enjoyable bottle from a cracking vintage. Deep ruby – almost black. Aromatics led by very fine oak – particularly mocha and cinnamon. Very ripe blackberry and spiced fruit beneath – quite Shiraz dominant. Glossy. Rich, full-bodied palate, with sweet black fruit and supple tannins, but holding enough acidity from the Cabernet to balance. Went down very nicely. A lovely wine.
