Perhaps this is coming around, to more like what I tasted en primeur. The first couple of bottles were a bit over-rich and flabby, but this really started to show some quality, complexity and balance. Deep yellow-gold. Lifted, almost peppermint note, over quince, crystal fruit and yellow peach. Floral, honeysuckle notes emerge on warming. Dry, but rich. Full-bodied, with medium acidity that keeps this in balance. Slightly chalky mineral undertow. Flavours of fresh, ripe yellow peach and hints of mandarin, with plenty of honey and also Soave-like almond flavours. Long. Much improved. I wonder how the remaining 9 bottles will evolve? Perhaps it’s emerging from the renowned Hermitage Blanc ‘odd’ phase…
