A little out of time-order, but this was served at a charity wine tasting at work before Easter. I’d remembered this as ‘a bit lemon and a bit ginger’, so bought a lemon cake and a ginger cake to partner with it (and teach people about the value of sweet wines with sweet things!). Memory had served me well. A decent vintage though not dramatic botrytis character. Deep gold. Preserved lemon, beeswax, vanilla and that all-important crystallised ginger note. Sweet, preserved lemon palate, with refreshing lemony acidity. Full bodied. Long, gently ginger finish. Very good. Some baked pastry notes emerge on the nose too.
