Out of place – flipped with the Dagueneau. A good opening gambit with the green veg and salad in the starter – but mainly because people were surprised and generally pleased by how different and unconventional Grüner is. This example was quite good, but not a great. Pale green-gold; slight spritz. Moderate intensity and riper-style nose of yellow peach – but still some green vegetable and white pepper character. Quite powerful: notable alcohol, but also concentrated savoury fruit with some caramel touches. Pepperiness comes through strongly to a long toasty and mineral-flavoured finish.
