So finally got around to tasting one of the other of Reiner Probst’s wines bought when in Breisach-am-Rhein, rowing. This was orange gold in colour. When chilled, distinct aromas of grapefruit, which took on more confected character on warming – say grapefruit marmalade? Also, notes of raisin and a touch of vanilla. Certainly a “sweet” wine, but not an aggressively sugary one, and with a good lick of acidity. Went well with light butter biscuits for example, and would probably match tropical fruit, but not a crème brulee wine. Refreshing.
Ha HAAA!! Just checked back – already noted! – and similar note!!
