This was in our First Year Assessment: a cryo-extracted sweet Marlborough Riesling… So I needed to retaste it and understand why it was (apparently) botrytis free. Deep burnished gold. Slightly sweaty lime chutney – like citrus, with quince. Slatey, smoky overtones, and touches of ginger. On the palate, caramel, marmalade, and very spicy ginger. Juicy, crisp acidity, but not powerful enough for Germany or Canada (6.7 g/L). Quite long, but not that complex.
