A very good wine in both the Pinot Gris / Chenin Blanc line-up, and the Sweet Wines. Having since seen the 45-60° slopes on the Rangen de Thann Grand Cru I can only imagine the effort needed to select botrytised berries in the vineyard! Powerful crystal ginger and spice notes show clear botrytis of an SGN, as does the full body, luscious sweetness and apricot & preserved root ginger palate. Aromatic breadth is typical of the wild Zind-Humbrecht style, that adds a slight meatiness to the nose. Does hold some zippy, orangey acidity to give some balance for the ripe fruit & sweetness.
