Served to us blind in a line-up of 8 Rieslings, by Christina’s brother – all dry styles. This was the wine of the night in its depth, complexity and balance, and Wagner Stempel is apparently one of the stars of Rheinhessen. Deep, deep gold. Waxy, toasty notes over lime and slatey mineral. Bright, crisp acidity, but slightly fuller bodied than several of the other Rieslings. Honeyed lemon and lime fruit. More slatey mineral notes on the long, dry finish.
