Slightly out-of-order this one (should really be after the Clos des Goisses), but just filling an accidental gap! Having enjoyed the Hidalgo Wellington VORS Palo Cortado, I thought I’d test drive Faraon VORS. In the medium colour and ‘fruity’ style, this one. Mid amber colour, with a broad caramel rim, showing a hint of olive. Slight haze, which didn’t settle-out much over some days. Medium intensity nose, with rancio, coffee cream, hazelnut (more than walnut), soft, sweet spice, over orange rind fruit. Some cocoa powder and almost jam notes. Very much ‘non astringent’. Medium+ intensity rancio and mandarin flavours. Medium+ body, high – but well integrated – alcohol, and low acidity. Creamy mid-palate. Medium+ length, rancio-laced finish. Nice. Pretty good.
