From Princess’ dad’s stash, I think, and into the Wine Club. A nice, well-matured Left-Bank Bordeaux. Coming to the end of its life, but not yet suffering too badly for it. Mid-garnet colour, with a medium rim – surprising lack of brick, given its 18 years of age. Cedar, touch of tobacco and leather, with chilli spice (or maybe 5-spice?) notes over dried cranberry. Medium+ body, medium acidity, and medium, fine-grained, slightly chalky tannins – but matured. Medium+ intensity red fruit opening, then some smoky blackberry. Slightly hollowing out on the palate. Medium+ length.
