A thank-you gift from Marketforce for speaking at their social media conference, and a handy opportunity to try a Langhe Nebbiolo – albeit in a distinctly modern style. Most notable was the approachability of its tannins in youth, along with the slightly jammy, confected flavours that perhaps result from the ripeness required to deliver that tannic softness. Reminiscent of California Pinot Noir… Pale-to-medium garnet, with a broad rim. Touch of smoky tar, over ripe – almost jammy – red cherry fruit. A bit too confected for my taste. Medium+ acidity, with medium, ripe, very smooth tannins. Quite rich cherry and spice flavours. Medium length.
