A pretty good Palo Cortado in the nutty, woody style. Mid-amber with a broad, golden rim. Wood-led, fairly intense nose: polished mahogany, walnut marzipan, toasted walnut, caramel and rancio touches. ‘Dry’ nose: sawdust, oak-toast and spice. Powerful, spicy, wood-toast flavour, with mild rancio cheese over-tones, and some dried fruit. Long, cakebread and walnut finish, through which some saltiness emerges. Probably not perfectly to my tastes, but a pretty good wine.
