So, the second of my attempts at cool(er) climate California Pinot Noirs, to see if I’m mistaken… And a second similar result – just a bit soft and undefined. Fairly enjoyable, but ultimately not delivering what Pinot Noir can do – and I think can do in a number of New World regions. Medium depth ruby and maybe more. Soft strawberry and caramel. Medium bodied, dry, but sweet fruit. Not soupy – there’s more acidity than that, but still not quite right. A pretty good wine, but Pinot Noir can do so much more.
