So after the failure of the Chablis Bougros, I swiftly went to this, that I’d picked up in Venice. And initially I thought ‘uh-oh’… because it had a quite unexpected character – possibly with some nail varnish / VA notes. However, the next day it opened into a more pleasurable drink. Deep yellow-gold with the odd orange glint. Developed into mandarin or tangerine notes, albeit with some toasty / smoky hints that didn’t quite fit. Full bodied, full flavoured, slightly sweet mandarin palate. Alcoholic – but not savagely so – some acidity balanced it out. Moderate length. Pretty good but not great.
