An OK Pinot Noir – drinkable – but not worth the Staff Shop price, let alone retail (and not a patch on the Pousse d’Or Volnay). Pale garnet core with a medium, rosy rim. Medium intensity perfumed nose of red fruit – strawberry – but with some mango or orange peel? On warming, some cinnamon sweet spice emerges (with some mint?). Structured by notable acidity. Relatively light tannins, but not supple – slightly angular – would soften with a couple of years? Redcurrant palate, including the slightly astringent dryness that eating raw redcurrants has. Medium length.
