Oddbins had 3 Meursaults on sale so I went for the 2000. Hmmm. Once again I find myself underwhelmed by a Meursault. A glass or two were fine, but I wasn’t keen for more. Showed the relative quality of the Leeuwin Estate Art Series – though that was still not 3.5 times better. Again, writing from memory, pale yellow gold colour. Medium-intense nose of butter and woody rather than toasty oak. Somewhat low acidity palate, with a woody, slightly smoky finish that just doesn’t fit with the fruit. That’s kind of the story here: not great flavours and not well knit.
