Randomly bumped into David Hohnen in a wine shop in Kensington, and had a good chat through some of his wines on tasting. All very good, so I left with a bottle of his recommendation. I opened it a few months later, and despite likely infanticide, due to its tightly-wound structure, still loved this wine! Pale-medium gold. Pure fruit and minerality. Nutty cinnamon & clove. Mealy. Almost cordite whiff from very fine oak. Flinty, smoky reduction. Underlying ripe stone fruit. Flavours of ripe pear with a passionfruit squeeze. Smoky wood-spice and cinnamon. Chalky. Firm. Long.
