My ‘other’ case of 2005 Gevrey, and finally decided to crack one. More forgiving, and less minerality dominated than Mes Cinq Terroirs. This is showing a lovely mix of fruit and early development. Limpid, pale garnet with a brick rim tinge. On the nose, beginning to open: spicy / earthy Gevrey character, with cedar-cinnamon oak and dried cherry fruit. Some meaty, bacon-fat touches. Complex. On the palate, cinnamon-laced red cherry and wild strawberry – only a touch dried. Fresh earth overtones. Bright acidity. Elegant, moderate, ripe tannins. Light-medium body. Long, perfumed finish. Opening now.
