Richard and I visited the estate after the Marathon du Médoc and tasted 6 Bauduc wines with Angela Quinney. Gavin couldn’t make it, as he’d been to look at a vineyard to lease to cover their hail-damaged 2013 crop. A very enjoyable tasting left us with this as a leftover for dinner. This was their finest white, from a small set of vats. Pale lemon-green. Restrained unripe lemon, grass and chalky mineral notes, showing clear, but ‘managed’ Sauvignon Blanc character. Crisp acidity and more minerally, citrus notes on the palate, alongside a subtle lees creaminess through the medium+ finish. Good stuff.
