One of 3 reds I brought for Whippet’s leaving BBQ, as I figured it’d be at maturity, and good for meat – both of which turned out to be the case. A good, classic-style Châteauneuf. Medium+ depth garnet, with slight bricking at the rim. Medium+ intensity mature aromas of grilled meat, some old leather and sweet spice, over a core of strawberry fruit. Full-bodied. Balanced, with ripe, soft tannin. A savoury profile, but built around sweet strawberry fruit, and laced with pepper spice. Rounded, warm and long.
