Bussola’s ripasso method Valpolicella, and clearly a ‘serious’ version. But not so serious that it can’t be drunk without meditation. A good balance. Opened to kick-off Booker weekend, on Friday night after a long drive. Great to unwind. And enjoyed and appreciated by others who had some. Nice. Very drinkable. Quite complex. Medium+ depth ruby-garnet, with a broad garnet rim. Certainly showing its 6 years of age. Medium+ dried cherry and black cherry. Espresso and cocoa powder hints with some nutty oak complexity. Opens to some meaty notes. Medium+ bodied, but natural acidity shows through to keep it crisp. Sweet redcurrant and red, sour cherry, with medium- tannins giving enough savoury structure. Good for food. Smoky, bitter espresso finish. Medium+ length.
