This was the first Hatzidakis wine that I found, courtesy of Waitrose. This one appears to be a pure Assyrtiko – which is unusual because neither of the write-ups I’ve read on the winery mention this. We had this on ‘white night’ at Argentière, and it differed from the other Hatzidakis Santorini by both being more austere, minerally and citric, and not having the initial toastiness. Plenty of citric character, and I think a classic example of Assyrtiko. I wonder how this would age, and change character. A food wine.
