Won a Davy’s monthly wine quiz to get this, and it was interesting to see what Clos d’Yvigne are doing on the red front. Overall, a pretty good effort, for a Cabernet-Merlot blend. Deep, semi-opaque garnet core, with a narrow, rose rim. Smoky, cigar box nose (perhaps with a ‘green bean’ note as described by Sam). Savoury, but with blackcurrant still evident beneath. Quite high acidity gives freshness, and a juicy red-fruit palate (actually red and blackcurrants). Not much tannin – almost Burgundian texture! Medium length.
