We were doing Chenin Blanc and the Loire as part of a revision group tasting, and I couldn’t find a Savennières for a dry Chenin Blanc anywhere. Fortunately, Majestic had this, from the Loir region, in the North of the Touraine, separated from the Loire, and it did the job very well. Lemon-yellow, with a nose of sweet apples, honey and fresh herbs, underpinned by chalky mineral notes. Dry, with crisp, green apple acidity, but with riper peach and stone fruit notes also, and honey touches. Pretty long, and pretty good, all-in-all. Several members of the group subsequently bought bottles!
