One of the potential highlights of my WSET prize case, but sadly for its vintage, it wasn’t showing at its best, I suspect, because of a small degree of (premature) oxidation. If true, this is worrying for the should-be-great ‘02s – that ‘prem-ox’ wasn’t just a late ‘90s issue. Mid-gold with some hints of copper. On the nose peachy / apricotty fruit but with something funky – bruised apple perhaps. Quite concentrated and reasonably long – suggesting quality… Frustrating accompaniment to a nice picnic by Battersea Pagoda with SJ.
