Picked this up from Majestic whilst looking for some wines that could be opened and drunk straightaway, without sediment settling etc. A pleasant find. A youthful deep-purple, with a narrow purple rim. Intense aromas of dark fruit – cherry, rather than raspberry – and rich sweet vanilla notes to envelop the rich (but not dominating) fruit. Jammy fruit sweetness (but not overblown – much more in balance) with some acidity and ripe, moderate tannin. On the palate chocolate / cocoa notes shine through beautifully on the finish. Nice (though Geoff Merrill was nicer).
