My first varietal Tannat. If Malbec is Cahors’ historical heart and Argentina its adopted home, then the palindromic Tannat is Cahors’ other grape so it’s probably fitting that this should be an Argentinian Tannat. Overall not bad – an interesting quaffer that stood up to biltong and beef jerky! Mid-depth ripe red cherry core with a narrow ruby rim. Mid intensity earthy cassis, red pepper, some roast meat & rosemary, and slight mint leaf notes. Peppery tannins and some acidity leave a grainy, ‘rustic’ structure. Juicy redcurrant palate, with a spicy, peppery finish. OK length
