David brought me this on my 40th, and it was drunk a few weeks later. Originally a whiter label, but it took time to come off… This 1998 Barbera shows how the variety can age well, when made well. Medium garnet. Developed toast and fresh leather notes, but still with underlying dry cherry fruit. Bright, fresh acidity and some residual tannins giving shape to the dried fruit, oak spice and leather flavour. Decent length.
