This was an exam example that didn’t arrive in time for an open tasting, so I just opened it for pleasure. A fully-mature – even slightly past-it – wine that showed both some quality and the relative lightness of the vintage. Pale-medium garnet, with a broad rim. Gentle earth, cinnamon and spice, hint of vanilla and some tea-leaf like tertiary development. Dried cherry fruit. Light body, bright acidity, moderate but slightly grainy, green tannins. Sweet, dried red cherry fruit. Fairly long, but hollowing-out a bit.
