Though not the deepest or most complex version, this is a good, classical example of an Alsatian Pinot Gris, with spice and concentration – so far from vapid Pinot Grigio! Mid gold. Quite intense, earthy-spice nose, with apples & pear fruit. On the palate, initially sweet sensations of spiced pear, give way through the mid-palate, to a fully-dry, slatey mineral finish. Full-bodied, medium acidity, and medium length. Quite rich and with the Alsatian ‘oiliness’. Pretty good.
