Nice, modern, designer packaging – with a fully wraparound label, that I had to tear off! Heavy bottle though… And a quality of wine to match, which again really surprised many at Booker. Brought for the cheese (it was great with a Cheddar-like hard one), it also subbed in from left field with the onion soup, and delivered well. Probably due to being off-dry. Medium-to-deep mahogany, with an olive-touched rim. Pronounced caramel-walnut nose, with coffee-cream, dark, bitter chocolate, rich oak spice complexity and even some citrus undertow. Deep. Lovely. Complex. Off-dry, rich, creamy walnut and oak-spice flavours, with more citrus. Long, long, long. Balanced. Lovely. 17 / 20 at least.
