Pieropan showing, like Inama, what quality Soave can achieve. Pretty rich fruit, but with a seam of minerally acidity underpinning it. The only criticism is that these two elements haven’t quite melded perfectly – perhaps more harmony in a couple of years? Mid-gold colour. Toasty, almondy notes over lemon peel and some fresh, yellow-peach notes. Honey and caramel then open up into a more floral – honeysuckle? – form as it warmed. On the palate, bitter grapefruit, lemon, and generally minerally citrus notes. A touch of yellow melon on the mid-palate flows through to a toasty, but flinty, bone-dry, medium+ length finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good.
