Picked out for a Christmas dessert wine example for a wine tasting at Albion. Overall, a decent – if a touch simple – example of a Tokaji. An entry-level Tokaji perhaps. Pale-medium amber. Pronounced nose of honeyed preserved orange, with creamy vanilla, roasted peach and gentle toast notes. Quite – but not very – complex. Sweet, medium+ bodied, but with at least medium+ acidity to keep this definitely refreshing. On the palate, the simplicity is a bit more obvious – quite sugary flavours of honey and preserved oranges. A little beeswax on the mid-palate, then a medium+ length honey-laced finish. Lost against Hidalgo Triana PX in a match-off for mince pies though.
