This may have lots of Aussie gold medals, and have scored quite highly amongst critics, but – even though I can see it’s a benchmark of the style for Hunter Valley Semillon, I would simply say that this is unbalanced. Its acidity is just too high to fit its toasty, waxy nose and emerging richness. Perhaps another decade?? Mid-depth lemon. Clear, waxy, lanolin-like notes, with classic, toasty hints emerging, over unripe lemon fruit. Bit of chalky minerality. Very dry, with high acidity. Though it filled-out on opening and warming, the unripe lemon and chalky, flinty minerality made this unbalanced, and less-than more-ish.
