The first couple of bottles of this were underwhelming and somewhat so, respectively – with the acidity disjointed and lack of elegance. Given the wine’s strong reputation from several sources, I was worried about opening bottle 3 on Christmas morning. Fortunately it delivered, and delivered well. Pale yellow-gold with a light, fine bead. Quite intense apricot, sweet lemon, cream, vanilla, gingerbread and notable almond notes. Touches of caramel and mushroom hints showed aromatic maturity and complexity. Delicate mousse. Almond / amaretti biscuit hints, sweet apple and apricot. Honeyed. Medium+ ‘rounded’ acidity – not as ‘green’ & disjointed as previous and more complex. Medium+ length.
