553. Sodade, Vinho do Fogo Branco, NV (2010)

More a curiosity than a great wine. In fact, definitely curiosity value. Whilst on Cape Verde, we had to try the local wine – albeit from another island, Fogo. Given that they also grow coffee there, it’s not surprising that this isn’t amazing. But palatable enough, and not horribly out of balance at 14% The back label says “Moscatel Branco” but there’s no discernable varietal characteristics e.g. orange or floral notes. Nevertheless, refreshing and pleasant enough with a fish supper!
