500. Mt. Difficulty, Chardonnay Central Otago, 1999

Was nosing around in Borough Market for a bottle of wine, and found a most unusual thing – an aged NZ Chardonnay. Broached this on an August picnic day with Kev, Pete, Whippet and Petros. Actually, it was OK, but not great: a rich, buttery style of Chardonnay, but slightly over-oaked, so toast & vanilla dominated. Interesting, nevertheless (and a cracking day out!).
