Had with – or rather after – wild duck on Boxing Day. Like their Chardonnay, this is dominated by a charred, almost bonfire-like grilled note on the nose, over ripe blackcurrant fruit. Started to open up over time, allowing the grilled note to lessen somewhat. Decent concentration, structure and length, but the charred note was a touch overpowering for this to be as enjoyable as it could have been.
