When I saw this at Planet of the Grapes, having enjoyed their Pinot Gris in NZ, I figured I’d have to give it a lash. I was then able to recommend that Hazel visited the vineyard when she passed through NZ later in 2008 – and she also particularly liked the Leah. A bright, red cherry colour, with a slight bubbly spritz. ‘Crunchy’ redcurrant, cranberry and raspberry, with a touch of subtle vanilla from oak. Savoury – perhaps sage? – note in the background. Fruit-led, but with a hint of smoke. Crisp, sweet cherry and cranberry flavours. Very well balanced acidity, with warming alcohol, but good length. Balanced, elegant and easy drinking.
