Tasted in class for our Central Italy lectures, and was clearly ‘outstanding’, so I took the rest of the bottle home. Great flavour concentration, exceptional balance with very ripe tannic structure, and aromatic complexity emerging. Will develop over 3-5 years. Sassicaia second wine. Deep garnet colour. Pronounced mocha, espresso, vanilla pods, sweet spices, dried cherries, blackcurrant, toasty oak and gravelly minerality. Cigar box notes emerge after an hour. Vanilla, cream, blackcurrant, cedar notes, chocolate and pepper on the palate, with great length. Good value!
