This was probably the night’s disappointment for me. Not a bad wine, but given the vintage and a pretty good producer, this should have given more. A bit thin & skeletal, and felt like it didn’t have much time left – and that in a magnum! Mid-garnet core with a wide brick-garnet rim. Some fading red fruit in a nose dominated by ‘sous bois’, leather, cinmamon and clove spice. Spicy, earthy palate. Light (!) bodied with only limited tannin (high Grenache %?), and a bit lead on mid-palate. Quite spicy length, but mostly alcoholic warmth showing there.
