Had heard that Tasmania was getting a good reputation for Pinot Noir, by virtue of being further South than the rest of Australia, and therefore cooler. So when I saw this at a friend’s place, I persuaded them to crack it (thanks Tracey!). And aged example, overall. Clear cherry aromas and flavours, but with a clear spiciness that surprised me – could have mistaken for a syrah-based wine. Mid-intensity ruby colour, through to the rim. Noticeable tannin – if anything, this could have had a touch more ‘silkiness’ to be very good. Medium-bodied, with pretty good length. Nice. Interesting.
