Very disappointing. May have been a little “off” – it had thrown a lot of sediment and was a little bubbly initially. Slightly “baked” flavour and aroma suggesting maybe off? Did open up and improve much on standing, though, so perhaps not. Mid, clear garnet colour (brown edged). Cranberry jam aromas (I knew because I had a jar there to compare!). Slightly spicy, fruit flavour but a bit leathery. Grip of tannin suggested some more ageing potential. Medium bodied. Upstaged (as ever!) by the 1999 Guigal Côtes du Rhône after!
