Though not from a great vintage like 1990 or 1996, this was clearly a well-crafted Champagne. Possibly high Pinot content, as a distinctly fruity aroma: peach or apricot, and with some green apple notes. Some yeastiness too though. Pale gold colour – possibly mid-gold – with some green glints. Soft mousse and a fine, fairly persistent bead, that gave a gentle “buzz” on the tongue. Notable, but not killer acidity, that gave the right amount of refreshment. Good length of fruity flavour, too. Nice (and excellent value for a vintage Champagne, too).
