En route home from dropping off Katy in Germany, I found this in Hannover Airport and figured I should find out what Dornfelder is all about, as it’s mentioned quite often as a promising German red variety. This one is slightly unusual in being oak aged, as most seem to be soft and fruity for easy drinking. Mid-depth ruby, with a vanilla and cinnamon laced, distinctly raspberry nose. Forward and upfront, with gentle, ripe tannins. Quite nice, though not earth shattering.
