First of a random case of Champagne. Tom Stevenson rates these guys fairly highly, and I can see why with this ’95 Blanc de Blancs. The only odd thing was how flat this was: the mousse and bead disappeared rapidly, leaving barely a gentle spritz on the palate. Anyway, mature, rich and pleasant. Light-medium depth gold, with green glints. Find, but rapidly dissipating bead. Relatively muted nose, but showing ginger-snap biscuit development, over a hint of lemon rind or maybe preserved lemon. A lovely, silky, lemon-cream palate. Medium-bodied, with a rich fruit core, and a creamy finish. Gentle spritz.
