The quality of winemaking that Planeta are renowned for comes through on this Fiano, yielding a quite complex, deep, but balanced wine that was ultimately satisfying. Mid-deep gold, but unusually with a greenish tinge. Medium intensity nose that changed over time – gaining weight, and complexity. Initially yellow plum / Mirabelle with some emergent toasty, nutty hints. Then melon, developing into more honey, pineapple and mango over the couple of days this was in the fridge. Fresh, with a surprising ‘lightness’ for a Sicilian wine. Medium+ acidity and medium(+) body. Mirabelle and sweet lemon flavours, with a medium, drying, minerally finish. Pretty good.
