Was proffered this in POTG Bow Lane wine bar on my first visit and was persuaded by that taste to part with 80 notes. And when given the opportunity to share it at Leah’s, I was glad it lived up to my expectations – and was wine of the night, against some stiff competition. Went pretty well with T-bone BBQ steak, and tomato salad – a tricky match. Medium garnet, fading to an attractive brick rim. Broad, complex, subtle nose – very well balanced: red & black cherry, cranberry, subtle meaty notes, and an array of warm oak spices. Superb balance and perfectly matured, rounded, ripe tannins. Acidity keeps it fresh, and the 14% alcohol is not overt. Medium+ flavour depth – red cherry and spicy meat notes. Long. Very satisfying and very elegant.
